From A Trip to Italy in Capri, Italy on Sep 13 '02
We concluded our trip to Italy with a few hours at Capri, one of the most famous holiday destinations in Europe. Although with little time to explore anything but the most quick and beaten path of tourists, this tiny island left with me the impression of a blue heaven: on the peak of Monte Solaro, we were totally bathed in the most transparent sunshine, and the purest blue of the Mediterranean. There’s an old Chinese saying “a day in the mountain is a thousand years in the world”. And I do feel that a nap at Capri does worth many many characterless days in the world.
And I finish my trip to Italy with this thought: ONE CAN BECOME AN AMERICA, BUT COULD ONLY BE BORN AN ITALIAN. That’s why glory belongs to Italy and eternity finds in Rome
