This morning we awoke to no hot water in our apartment and the Krakow Hourly Trumpet Signal. The bugler played his tune on the hour and stopped in the middle
as is the tradition. The story says that he stops because the original bugler from long ago was warned to stop playing, but continued to play every hour on the hour and was shot with an arrow in the middle of the song. A better explanation can be found here.We

talked to the girls managing the apartment in their office downstairs about the hot water and one of them came up to show us how to reset the pilot light. They also run Cracow-life.com from this office. Today we walked around Krakow’s City Center
(One of 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Poland), St. Mary’s Basillica, St. Wenceslaw Cathedral at Wawel Castle and the castle grounds. Along with wandering around the city center,

watched part of a jazz festival and the World Cup final match between Italy and France in the Krakow city center Market Square. Italy beat France in a shootout 5-3 (Game tied 1-1). Walked = 10.28 miles.
