back to Portland

Meredith and I went back in to Portland to see more of the city than we saw the day before. We walked all over the city. We started by heading to the camera shop to drop off my batteries to have them charged, then to this large amphitheatre area. There were lots of interesting statues and architecture. Sadly, because my batteries were charging, I didn’t get to take any photos of the areas we walked to. We went into a few different stores: Nike Town, Patagonia, REI, the official Oregon gift store (some nice stuff here), and some others. It was a nice downtown. Lots of upscale hotels, restaurants, and stores, but it’s not a crowded big city atmosphere, it’s really chill. Portland has a huge bookstore called Powell’s, and it has new and used books there. It takes up a city block. Meredith and I spent a lot of time there, I didn’t find anything I couldn’t live without with though.

After a day of walking around the city, we were bushed but today was the day the Meredith usually takes care of some horses that are owned by a lady friend of hers from church. So off we went to her house. When we got there the lady was already making dinner for us, so after cleaning the horses (I did not do this) we went in to eat. She had cooked us steak and vegetables, very good. We went back out to ride the horses before dessert (Meredith, not I). I sat on the trampoline and watched as Meredith and another girl rode around the back yard. We then came in, had brownies and ice cream, and played Nertz for a while, then left. I went back and pretty much went straight to bed.
Footnotes: I never found a jacket within my price range, so I shall suffer in silence, unless I find a good deal. Also, I have found that I am extremely allergic to Claus, Meredith’s cat. My nose gets stuffed up and I have asthmatic reaction as far as breathing. It’s not good. So I’m going to try not to spend a lot of time within her house. I have my own cabin I’m sleeping in. This is also hampering my running, so I don’t think I’ll run much here, if at all.
