Arrived in Nha Trang late on Monday night after spending 11hrs on the train!  We were sharing our cabin with a Geordie couple this time so we had a good natter with them.  the 4 of us got a hotel together in the cnetre of Nha Trang. Nha Trang is your "Costa del Sol" of Vietnam.  We spent our 1st day chilling out on the beach which was pure bliss ;o)  Laura turned a shade red and my face was a bit skelpit-oops.  Went out for dinner and drinks. We were expecting it to be pretty lively but it was as always just full of couples!  It didnt help that it was Va;entines night either!  We got a few drinks from various bars who were havign Valentines promotions,

Day 2 we went on a boat trip to 4 of the islands off Nha Trang.  Once again our boat was full of couples and Asians. Was more liek the"Love Boat"! Noone for us to chat to.  We did a bit of snorkelling which was pretty disappointing. Not that many fish around. I think i was expecting the colouful array that i saw in the Whitsundays in Oz- no such luck.  The crew put on a super lunch for us on the boat and then the chefs and captain sang and played music for us! It was so funny., there were 2 singers, a electric guitarist and a drummer. The drums were made from old battered oil drums- ingenious!  They sang a song from each persons country. Their "Waltzing Matilda" was classic and guess what they sang for Laura and i?? Yes "Auld Lang Syne" 10/10 for entertainment.

We cruised around some more then there was a "floating bar" What a novelty eh! We jumped off the boat and into the sea. We were thrown life rings to sit in and then we bobbed around and drank at the floating bar! There's a 1st for everything ;o)  Don't think it would quite be the same in the Clyde mind you!   Our last stop was at a beach where i did some sunbathing and swimmming.  It was a good day out and the band certainly made the trip ;o)

On our last day in Nha Trang we hired some bicycles and went to visit the Marble Buddha, a pagoda, the Sham Ruins and the Mud baths and Thermal springs. We got lost a few times and had to stop ask for directions. It was also the hottest day yet and we were a pair of sweaty Bettys-yeuck!  We must have cycled for over 3 hrs in the blazing sun. Think i sweated by body weight !  We were relieved to finally make it to the mud baths where we soaked for an hour in the mineral mud. I feel much better for it already, However my ass is not feeling as good after 3 hrs in the saddle bumping alonmg the dirt tracks!

Once again we went on the overnight train, this time for Saigon. 9 hrs this time. In our cabin were a family of 5 sharing just 2 beds!

Well thats the update for now. off to explore saigon later and visit the war museum and cu chi tunnels and war museum  Cheery stuff eh!!

Hi Pauline Glad to hear you're having a great time I love the idea of 'floating bars' - sounds like you had a good night. Hope you are feeling ok after going down the dirt tracks! Lana
