During long nights in the Alaskan winter, I had the chance to see one of the greatest natural wonders: the Northern Lights. It’s like a silk in the air, changing its shape and color every second. Most of the time it’s lime green, with a little yellowish. Sometimes, it could become yellow, orange, purple, pink and even red. Those are the rare ones and it didn’t appear often.

Another encounter with nature happens a day before my birthday. I was kicking a soccer ball around in the backyard. Suddenly, I heard some rumbling noise coming from the horizon. As I lifted my head and looked, the ground started to shake. Earthquake! I wasn't sure what to do, other than getting on the ground as fast as I could. After 30 seconds or so, the shaking stopped and I got back on my feet.

I had the chance to see one of the greatest natural wonders: the Northern Lights.

Later on, I found out from watching the news that the earthquake occurs in Denali National Park, which was a few hundred miles away. It was a magnitude 7.9 earthquake. If such earthquake happened somewhere else, it would have caused a lot of damage and causalities. Luckily, in the sparsely populated Alaska, there were only 1 injury reported.
