What does one get when they celebrate a birthday away from home? A following morning without a hangover.

Last Monday was my first birthday away from home.  And although close friends and family weren´t present, those voids were quickly filled with yummy food, expensive vino and good company.

We blew our budget for the week and brought $1 vino instead of the $0.65 vino

The birthday celebration began with a sumptuous tapas feast, featuring gambas, jamon, setas, quesos and caracoles prepared by Chef Lenny. To accompany the tapas was, of course, some vino tinto y blanco. We blew our budget for the week and brought $1 vino instead of the $0.65 vino.

We walked off the feast by shopping for my gifts in Moroccan Alley. Lenny didn´t get me the presents himself because he knows how picky I am and didn´t want to risk getting a gift that couldn´t be returned.   I can´t complain about getting exactly what I want and having a mule to accompany me through it. I think the real present that Lenny gave me was his companionship and lack of complaining throughout an entire shopping trip.  After successfully purchasing a beautiful red scarf  (cause Granada has ridiculously dropped 10 degrees each week!) and a large colourful hippie bag, we went for some more drinks and tapas! The night was capped off with a bit of champagne, cake and my perma grin.

Being away from home for a birthday usually spent with friends and family was a little hard. But thanks to Lenny it was wonderful one. Also, I want to thank you all of you for your birthday wishes!

Hugs, Jenn

Disclaimer on the pictures: the redness on my cheek in EVERY picture is purely a gift from the sun of the Sierra Nevada, and not from the vinos and champagne consume during the course of the celebration.
