My stigmatta is really starting to act up

Made the trip up into the hills to check out the home of good ol' Saints Francis and Claire.  The town itself is a lot of fun, sort of draped over the edge of a hill in central Italy. The town itself is worth an overnight visit, but our two nights and three days proved a tad much.

The Basillica of St. Francis is quite a wonder.  Built around 1230 or so and filled with the frescoes of Giotto depiucting the life of St. F, it is both a fascinating art exploration as well as a good lesson in Catholicism.

Spent the rest of our time wandering though the amaxing alleys and passages of the medieval villiage and enjoyed more than a few good meals in its restaurants.  Watched the Italy vs. Germany world cup match in a little cafe crammed with folks.  In fact, the dud next to my is lovingly cradleing an Italian flag in his lap, which i am sure will be unfurled tonight for the Italy vs. France final match and therefore end of the world if Italy loses.
