We arrived in Hong Kong on the 18th, spent a day there and then took the train 2 hours to mainland China. So far we've had a good time exploring the area and culture. Not to mention the heaps of Cantonese eateries with delicious local cuisine. Right now we're headed out to Shamian Island which was ceded to the French & British after the 2nd Opium wars. It's an island in Guangzhou that is supposed to be mainly foot traffic -- so perhaps less pollution? We all have persistent scratchy throats due to the thick, dirty air. I feel like Derek Zoolander with the "black lung" haha. funny but at the same time bad. I'll post some more pix when we get back!
