In our quest to find new countries and an opportunity to catch up with some friends we met while travelling, myself & Kev (the infamous duo), decided Oslo was this years destination to ring in the new year.

We got there by flying with Ryanair via Glasgow and coming back direct to Dublin. This saved us some money but be warned Ryanair's airport is 140km outside of Oslo so your looking at a long bus journey when you arrive. The bus return is ~€33. Don't even think about a taxi!

Myself & Kev (the infamous duo) decided Oslo was this years destination to ring in the new year.

In short we partied for 3 nights while in-between recovered and hung out with friends (Eva, Janne, James, Dylan and Sarah). Oslo is expensive - even in comparison to Dublin. €7.50 for a bottle of beer for example. €70 for 2 main courses and drinks in the Hard Rock.

Looking back, Oslo could have been better - there wasn't as many people as we would have liked (those not from Oslo go home) and so alot of the bars & restaurants were closed. House parties are popular, which makes sense, but is not really what your after on NYE. Overall, we had a good time, made the most of it, but I'd recommend Oslo in the Spring or Summer and spend New Years in another capital City.
