After spending the night in the Tanger airport in Morocco,(we had a 5am flight to barcelona) I was overjoyed to retrieve my backpack from baggage covered in honey. About a gallon of it! Isn't there a law about transporting food on international flights?  Of course Dave didn't have a lick of honey on his and thought this was just hilarious!

Once at our hostel, and after I washed my backpack, we did laundry, sent a few packages home and bathed, we were eager to see some sights! However, it was nearly 7pm, so we found a little Tapas joint in the Barri Gotic. We chowed and just started to drink.... a lot. I was downing the Sangria and Dave the Mahou lager.  It was needed at that stage!

We had an incredible view of Barcelona from the car, but it made my stomach flip flop a bit!

Day 2 started at the Parc Guell. It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914.  We were impressed by the amount of mosaics that Gaudi used in the park.  The seating on the mosaic terrace is shaped like a sea serpent.  The entry has an incredible fountain with a mosaic sculpture of a dragon.  Our interest in Gaud lead us on to see the La Sagrada Família, a massive Roman Catholic basilica.  Gaudi worked on the project for over 40 years and construction is still on going today. Its an impressive structure! We continued on and found the Travelers bar.  A pub with loads for info for budget travel all around the world and really cheap grub and booze.

That evening we walked around Barceloneta, the area around the beach.  We had a few tapas and a beer at busy tiny corner spot.  We walked further around the city and ended the nite at another tapas place to watch Real Madrid play.

The next day we visited the Picasso museum, which was just ok in my opinion.  That afternoon we took the tram up to Park Montjuic where we caught the Funicular even further up the hill.  The Funicular was a floor to ceiling windowed box that carries you up the mountain and back down to the beach.  We had an incredible view of Barcelona from the car, but it made my stomach flip flop a bit!  That evening we watched Man Utd. beat Sporting Lisbon.

The last day we went North to Figueres it visit the Salvador Dali museum. It was well worth the two hour trek.  It's in a theater that Dali rebuild and choose a lot of the art that is on display there today.  We headed back to Barcelona and straight to Campo Nou, Barcelona's Stadium.  It was a bit run down but still really cool.  They had a huge museum too.

The next morning we left for Italy.....

Hey Guys! You missed Charlotta in Barcelona by about 3 days. She, however, loved the Picasso museum. I loved getting my postcard. I am still so envious of your adventures. Love and miss you terrible. Mags
