Getting ready to go

We have handed in notice at work (unpaid leave for a year), temporarily taken the kids out of the school system, and finally decided on our world trip itinerary - I guess this means that there's no turning back now!

We have put the house on the market with two local lettings agents, and the pressure of keeping the place tidy is beginning to show.. We have been culling our possessions with gusto, even bribing the kids to get rid of their vast army of action men. The genius idea was to tell them that whatever toys they sell at the car boot sale we're going to, they can keep the profit! Stanley brightly announced that he's selling his Scalextrix 'for at least £10 Mummy' - well yes, it did cost us £50 at Christmas (grrr) - but at least they're getting into the swing of it!

Dustballs, estate agents and panic!

It may be a bit soon to tell, but the getting rid of posessions business is quite liberating. We've all halved our wardrobes, and ditching great bin bags into the recycling is making my spirits lighter by the second. We've accumulated so much tat over the last 6 years; having kids, running businesses, making films, but now it's a bit emptier our house seems like a different space. All the jobs that we've been meaning to get around to doing for years are finally getting done, it's the classic thing of having a good hair day just as you are about to go to the hairdressers..

Next, we're buying the RTW tickets. Can't wait to see it all in black & white!
