After our last week of ruff travel and very little good food, we stumbled into the culturally rich city of Hoi An. Hoi An is famous for having over 300 tailors within the city. At least four to every block. The tailors will make you anything from sandals, boots, underwear, t-shirts, suits, jackets, dresses, ect. All tailor made to fit you perfectly. We could not resist. I had a pair of brown boots and a suit jacket made to fit me. With the boots I picked out the leather, the heal, the tightness around my calf and how far up the boot went. I now know there is no other way to go shoe shopping. They took so many measurements on my foot I walked out with blue pen marks all over my leg. Peter had a jacket made for him. We chose the fabric and looked through a bunch of magazines to find the right style. It looks great! The only thing was that he was forced to try on a winter jacket in 90+ degrees! It was too much fun.

Other then the tailors there are a number of great restaurants. Thank god because we were really getting sick of fried rice and vegies. They have a number of local specialties that we loved. We had a favorite restaurant that had a set menu of the night and would bring out plate after plate. We spent the heat of the afternoon in our aircon room or in the pool. Yes we sprang for a step up in life at $15 a night, pool and a bathtub! It was high living! We are both doing very well and feel replenished. South we go heading to Saigon.
