Since Nicole and Martin wanted to play with the cables, we chose to take the same route back instead of the flat 7-hour walk. However, our choice entailed a very long steep trek and had Sua not agreed to carry my backpack, I'd have gone the other way! Boy! It was tough even without my backpack.

It was probably around 1.5 to 2 hours before we reached treehouse 2 (it's a honeymoon treehouse for 2 pax). From there we got onto a very long zip line to a mid-way platform and then another long zip line to Treehouse 1.  Treehouse 1 must be the biggest. It was 3-tiered.  Idan and I rested in Treehouse 1 while Martin and Nicole zipped around more. We spoke to the group staying in Treehouse 1 and they too didn't sight any gibbons.

From treehouse 1 it was a 40-minute downhill trek to Ban Toup village. We hopped onto the jeep and i lay down immediately. My feet were killing me and i just wanted to rest despite the bumpy ride.  We stopped again in Ban Donchai where lunch was prepared for us. Normal rice never tasted so good!

Idan was supposed to catch the bus to Luang Namtha but he'd missed it and our jeep driver gave chase but the bus was full anyway and Idan was told to wait for the next bus. So he went back to have lunch with us. We bid farewell after lunch and left him sitting by the road waiting for the bus.

We made another stop at Ban Pong where we were told to wait for 30 mins but the jeep came back in 1.5 hours with the rest of the group who'd chosen the 7-hour trek.  By the time we reached Huay Xai it was 17.30. 2 from the group managed to rush to the border crossing to go to Thailand. I went back to my hotel and took a long, hot shower.  What a bliss!

Sent some clothes to the laundrette and had a drink at the stall next to the hotel. Was waiting to have dinner with Martin and Nicole.

We met up with Jo, Robin & Kevin and had dinner at the Riverside restaurant next to the Gibbon Experience office. I ordered Beef laap again...so yummy! Martin ordered a pizza which took very long and came out very small! Dinner was absolutely enjoyable...the food, the place, the weather n the company. We chatted till 23.00 and they walked me back to my hotel, which was just across the street.  The doors were closed already. I had to knock hard several times before somebody came to open the door.

I set my alarm for 06.00 because i'd wanted to catch the monks collecting the morning alms.
