We set out to see Montreux after 3 days of the snow and to relief our legs from the pain of the ski boots!!

It was a Sunday, and guess what, everything shuts on a SUNDAY!!!! so we ended up walking past shops that are shuts and a very quite town! We hike up to the old town which is situated up the hill.... very nice and colorful old buildings and an old church that was built in the 17th century.

Good stroll from Montreux to Villeneuve

We then stroll back to Villeneuve along Lake Geneva (a good 9km walk) stopping over at the famous caslte, Chillon Castle which is situated between the 2 town. A very nice and well preserved castle! worth a visit! It was a nice sunny day...but a bit too much mist that we couldn't see the other side of the lake. Heaps of ducks and swans and that was the clearest lake I've seen!! You also get majestic hotels right next to the lake and some very nice mansion facing this beautiful lake! They call in Lac Leman in French.

Problems with the train again when we got to Villeneuve as we plan to catch the train back to Aigle and back up to Leysin. No trains from Villeneuve to Aigle on a Sunday!! only bus services...so, we waited another good 40mins for our bus as there's nothing to do in Villeneuve as well..cos it's SUNDAY!!

lesson learnt - never rely on any European cities on a Sunday!
