Today we arrive in Hue.

After checking in an seeing my room, I was more than happy to head out on tour.

Why it's called The Perfume River, is beyond me, but they really should rename it.

We toured  of the Old Imperial City, the Ngo Mon Gate  the Thai Hoa Palace, the Halls of the Mandarins, the Nine Dynastic Urns ), and the ruins of the Forbidden Purple City which is not purple and isn't really a city, in fact, their wasn't much to see, as most of it was destroyed in  The French bombings, i was told.

Our tour ended with a visit to the Dong Ba Market, a local market near the Imperial City, where I bought Tamarinds and Mangoes for last night noshing.

Hue is a pretty small town, with small streets, lined with coffee shops, cafes and restaurants.  That evening we ate at Cafe D'Amis, which was neat little place near the lake, with a set menu. Your choice of Chicken, beef, or seafood. We each tried one and the seafood, got my vote! There were 4 to 5 small courses each and most were pretty good, but for the price $3, who can complain!

Day Two in Hue we took full day boat ride on the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda and the Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang.  Why it's called The Perfume River, is beyond me,but they really should rename it.

By this time, in the trip, I was sick of Pagodas and Tombs, they real did begin to look a like, but it was better than sitting in that depressing hotel.
