We took the scenic Bernina Express to enter Tirano in Italy before boarding a bus back to Lugano in Switzerland.
The train was fully booked, full of elderly Germans. They had this cute habit of waving at passer-bys along the way, especially children. The were very kind to us and gave us lots of sweets throughout the 2 hours ride. Along the way you got to see glaciers and lakes. I bet in winter it would be nicer!

We reached crossed the boundary of Switzerland to enter Tirano in Italy. We went for pizza while waiting for the bus that would bring us back to Lugano in Switzerland. This allowed us about half a day in Italy. The streets in Italy was much narrower and this resulted in some jam.
We travelled along the coast and managed to get a glimpse of how the Italians worked and lived. The Lugano city was very vibrant, quite unlike the usual swiss towns. Probably due to the closeness with the Italians and they seemed to be on their summer vactaion, with lots of high school students around. It was fun taking the funnicular up and down to their shopping area!

There were many smart cars around! I love them so much! I hope I could buy one of these in Singapore too. Next we were moving on to Lucerne.
