We arrive in Edinburgh and get to our hostel only to find that the three of us are split up in different rooms.  I didn't mind as we were only going to be sleeping there!  The hostel turned out to be incredibly overbooked and had absolutely no hot water in the whole place!!

After the first night we decided it was not really ideal so we turned upon a friend of Simone's that was out of town and lived close by the city.  Fortunately she let us stay at her place where there was hot water and we didn't have to share a room with 20 people!!!  We got ready to go to the street party later that evening and headed out about 8pm, the streets of Edinburgh were absolutely packed with no room to move anywhere!  We ran into a couple of Aussies - you just can't get away from them - and they ended up having lived in Cairns and knew a couple of people I did, very small world.  We spent the rest of the night with them in about the same spot except to go to the bathroom - which was a mission in itself, the queue to the massive line of port-a-loos and the wait was about an hour!  We ended up finding a pub just outside the gates and we went there until the gates closed at midnight - then we had to brave the queue of the port-a-loos (at least we didn't spend midnight in one as I am sure that some people did!).  We saw a great display of fireworks and hung around there for about an hour before heading to a nightclub.  The club was absolutely packed and you could barely move!!!  We stayed until 3am and then went in the search for food, we got the most expensive pizza ever - £18 (about $55 - can you believe it!!!) and then headed home for the night.

Spent most of the day sleeping before we went on a Ghosts and Goulls tour that took us down into the underground and tried to scare us.  It was pretty lame but one girl swears that she 'felt' something while she was down there - I'm not convinced!
