Our first rainy morning in Ireland happened here in Derry (or Londonderry). We still spent a chunk of the morning walking on the old city walls and taking in the political murals of the area. Crazy stuff... this is the area where 'Bloody Sunday' took place. A tragic, solemn but in someways hopeful rememberance. We took off from Derry in the late afternoon for the County of Donegal. Wow... what a beautiful, wild and natural county. We marvelled at the sights of the landscapes, the roads, the people, the sheep! We stumbled onto a few old backroads that provided us with some special sights (ocean sand dunes, waterfalls, desolate roads). We actually ran into a couple from Coquitlam on a desolate beach... whoa weird! We topped off our evening by visiting Slieve League cliffs and taking in the amazing sites at Carrigan Head. These are supposedly some of the highest cliffs in Europe. Beautiful... breathtaking!!!
