Halong Bay
From Round The World Trip 2006-2007 in Halong Bay, Vietnam on Aug 06 '06
A 3.5 hour bus journey from Hanoi brings you to the World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. As posted in my last entry we had decided to do the 3 Day/2 Night tour but unfortunately this trip didn't work out as anticipated. I thought only the weather in Ireland spoilt things, but not so. From the time we woke at 6am til the time we got back to Hanoi it rained; and not just a little bit - torrential! So that pretty much spoilt alot of things the trip offered. We still managed to visit 'Amazing Cave', take some nice photos, sea-kayak amongst rock formations in peaceful water and stay over-night on the boat. The food was nice as well :o)
We decided to come back to Hanoi a day early. The weather wasn't going to pick up and what's the point of trekking to a view-point when it's pissing out; that's just irony..
Halong Bay - World Heritage Site.
So, Halong Bay is beautiful. We just didn't manage to see everything it has to offer. My advice - don't visit it in August :o)
[As you can all the photos are very dark and grey - disappointing.]
