Hällefors Up and Coming

Between Borlange and Karlstad this small town is reinventing itself from a logging-steel based economy to a centre for design and culinary arts.  Opening just last year, the design house is a place for artists and students of design to meet, display, reaserch and dialogue.

Last year they hosted a competiton called 'sustainable fast food'. They were currently showing a collection of household items from industrial design era. So many chairs! I was in heaven!

The nearby university  (which we didn't have time to visit) attracted over 80,000 visitors to both see the building and visit the Sensory Lab to get a taste for the art and science of cooking.  Though not mentioned as a destination yet in any travel guides, I bet it will be in a couple years.
