Woke up early on the dive boat, and transfered back to phuket island.  Went with Konrad and the other swiss guys to Kamala rather than go back to Patong.  This was a good choice, and Konrad identified a great hotel right next to Roberts dive shop, and right on the beach.  The whole environment in Kamala was superior to Patong.   It was quiter and prettier.  Had a great time hanging out with my Swiss friends.  We had a lunch and swimming on the beach, then excellent coffee, and Billiards.  Konrad's girlfriend Bud was a skilled player.  The bar girls were subserviant and attentive to any need.  At first I felt kind of bad accepting their services, clearly needing the miniscule tips from serving cheap beers and racking the balls.  Part of it is the culture, with Thai women oriented to serving men rather than than the more socially equal arrangements in the west.  After a while I had no trouble with them racking my balls.

I setup another dive trip to the Similans, which usually takes a 7-10 day live aboard trip.  But they were to bus me up to Phang Nga, and then take a speed boat out to the already anchored Live aboard on site and stay one night.  This was a great opty to see the legendary Similans in a short time, though was a lengthy rushed 3+hrs trip to get there, and then back again.

After a while I had no trouble with them racking my balls.
