Detour: An Open Letter to Tour Guides

I think from time to time I’m going to write what I call a “detour” -- a departure from our typical narration to comment (or more likely, rant) about a general traveling topic. This topic: Tour Guides

Dear Tour Guides and Park Rangers,

Please stop talking to us like we’re idiots. Trust me, we’re bright people, we just don’t happen to know about this particular historical landmark…yet. If you want to give us a few days to study, we’ll go toe to toe with you! But in the meantime, feel free to move it along. We can keep up.
