New Years Day - obviously we slept in.  Our first order of the day was to head to Teany, a delightful cafe.  Then to Union Square area for lots of shopping.  They have a Whole Foods Market there - one of the best grocery stores ever!  Yum.  The Whole Foods Markets on the east coast are the only places in the USA I have found to sell skyr, yogurt from Iceland.  This is far better and also different from normal yogurt Americans are used to.  Don't take my word for it, just try it yourself.  Skyr comes with a foldable spoon in the lid so you can eat it right away, too.  Icelanders and their yogurt rock.

One of the best shopping places we went to was the Strand Bookstore, three levels of book bliss!  You could literally spend all day there (if you are into books and don't get sore feet).  I get sore feet, so we only spent an hour or two, and I showed great restraint by only getting 3 new books.  They have a good selection of both used and new books.  Stop here for sure!
