Osaka for us was all about catching up with Lloyd who we have not seen for over two years and meeting his girlfriend Saki and her family.

Lloyd and Saki met us at Kansai Airport and we made our way into the city area by train.

Catching up with Lloyd

It did not take long to find our hotel and start wandering around the sites of Dotonboori. This is the area of Osaka that stays awake 24 hours a day. There are always heaps of people on the street.

A can of Asahi beer from the Seven 11, and we soon were on the streets.

Our first four days based in Osaka have been action packed from activities including meeting Saki's mum, dad and sister, negotiating the subway and above ground trains, and going to a 'sports centre' which has a lot of virtual sports as well as traditional sporting activities.

We took the train to Kyoto one day to check out a few temples. These are shown in the photos - they are fairly 'simplistic' and not overly gawdy. In Kyoto we also checked out the area where the geisha girls appear - we didn't see any but the area was interesting. Topped the day off with an Indian meal and then made our way home. Lloyd left us in Osaka to make our own way home as he could save travelling time by going seperately from the Indian restaurant. This was a little daunting finding the correct bus back to the station but we managed and arrived back at our hotel exhausted about 11.00 pm.
