There's SO MUCH TO DO in sydney!

Hannah and Elly got back from the opera ballet and though i was in my pyjamas reading Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrel, we decided to go out to Scubar. Which was fun. I did take the liberty of changing out of my pyjamas first. We drank schooners and laughed at the pole dancing maniacs and talked to some people from Brighton and some others from Sydney.

Me and Hannah managed to not wake up until 12 the next day. So after our late breakfast/lunch we spent a leisurely cultural day wandering around parks and cathedrals and art gallerys and the botanical gardens, all of which was marvellous. We made friends with some cockatoos who were eating lemons. We also drank earl grey and ate danishes.

We met Elly and Izzie at the harbour and got the boat over to Luna Park (the name of brett easton ellis' autobiographical novel which i was put off reading by american psycho) and the bloody place was closed. So we got the boat back and had a yummy italian meal. We hung out in the hotel eating timtams for a while (which are like penguins) then went to Scubar again! Izzie's yummy australian Uni friends came and joined us and we had SUCH a fun night. And a falafal.

The next day we set off in the car with Hannah's lovely parents to the blue mountains, and went round all the usual lookout points. It was beautiful, breathtaking, blue and mountainy. The white silvery eucaliptus trees were draped in the remains of their old bark, the rags of their past skins. And there were an awful lot of trees.

I think it doesn't feel like i'm in australia because i haven't seen a kangaroo.

I'll upload photos soon i promise. As Kangaroo-less as they might be. xx

Ok that's done :) So yeah the blue mountains, that evening at the YHA we drank wine and ate cheap pizza. We were in an 8 share room WITH BOYS. Hehe. They were boring though.

The next day we had the nicest breakfast at a little cafe. Now the blue mountains, they're full of picture perfect villages dotted around. Everything's pristine. Apple orchards and antique shops. Makes you think there must be something beneath the surface... perfect setting for a murder mystery.

We ate pies as well. Pies are big in australia, and they are good.

Went to some more lookout points and windy roads. Listened to the beatles. Was really nice. Got back into sydney about 4 and went to luna park for proper at about 7. Luna park was fun. It's a theme park. It also contains Coney Island which had me singing David Bowie all evening.

We were gonna go out but are tooo tired. Hence my photo upload sesh. Enjoy xx

Yesterday we wandered through the botanical gardens again and did shopping. We had the loveliest dinner of posh salads and tomato juice and cheesecake. Then we saw 300 at the imax, it was SOOO GOOD!! so gory and bloody and mmm. I enjoyed that incredibly. After this we went to Scubar for a drink and i met a vet from kansas. Then we played cards with a carpenter from Norwich.

Today, we went to MANLY. Which was just like brighton. The sea was just as cold.

I had sushi for the first time on the ferry going from central quay to manly, and it was WICKED. I was loving the sushi.

So now it's the evening and i've just had a BBQd kangaroo burger on the roof, and now i'm going to watch some crab racing at scubar. With 2 for 1 drinks. I've sorted what i'm doing for the rest of my travelling time, and i'm excited. Love you all! xxx

The day after THAT night out we had a chill day and organised our plans for the upcoming week. We went to a digereedoo (sp?) show that was free but that was about it.

The day after this we went to Bondai beach!! The famous one i suppose. It was of course filled with disgustingly beautiful people (and plain disgusting old men in speedos), we just kinda collapsed there for a while though i did have a fantastic Butternut Pumpkin and Sweet Potato soup (even though we'd made sandwiches and brought some banana bread with us).

In the evening (our last night in sydney!) we went to scubar where there was 2 dollar champagne and looked all classy drinking it while the pole dancing competition went on around us (we did not partake). Then we went and danced in sidebar. We got a much later night than was intended.... and then woke up at 6am to drive away on the greyhound feeling like we were leaving home having been in sydney a whole week and having done so much. It seems strange we won't be going back there. Or maybe... we will someday :)
