Reunion and birthday fun

I was crashed out in my comfy Cairns bed when the door opened and Elly scuttled back into my life, a little squinty but none too the worse for wear. It was pure bliss to see her again. We caught up before she shot off to be insulted by her anti-pommy eye doctor. I lay back down and dreamed of India. Then my darling Hannah walzed in. It was equally enthralling to see her again, i almost wept with joy. We caught up also. Emotional times over, we went out to the Woolshed and danced all night.

We've been to the Woolshed every night in fact. They play the same bloody songs constantly and it's pretty seedy. You have to dance rather eratically to avoid being groped.
A load of Elly and Hannah's tour group are here too, so there's a nice large group of us. In fact i am throwing a dinner party this evening with backpacker pasta and jar sauce and bag salad. And let's not forget the goon and violet crumble.
Then on the 12th.... IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!! I shopped (mostly buying presents for others - how selfless am i) then upon returning to the hostel i found a huuuge bunch of beautiful native aussie flowers that my mum had got delivered. What a wonderful present! How happy! I phoned my mum and sister to say thank you, which was lovely. Especially how much my sister misses me :) We had a cup of earl grey and some birthday cake that we'd bought (one chocolate and one pecan pie) at the hostel. In the evening me and Hannah and Elly went out for a posh meal to the Raw Prawn and i spent 100 dollars because i had an adorable crayfish from the tank. We went and had ultra-violet shiney G+Ts in the Woolshed.

We went to see Spiderman 3 on the thirteenth. There's something comforting about cinemas. You could be anywhere in the world.
Today we lounged by the lagoon. Cairns is getting a bit dull though, it's soo full of tourist souvenir shops. Tomorrow we go EXTREME white water rafting. I might drown, so this may be goodbye. Love you all! xxx
I didn't drown, though there were moments.... but LORDY it was fun. I've never had so much fun. Bombing along big crashy waves and rocks and rapids in a raft is just amazing. FORWARD PADDLE. We didn't even capsize. We went swimming down a rapid or two as well which was amazing. I am aching and bruised a hell of a lot this morning but it was worth it (and the 200 dollars).

It was mike's birthday so in the evening we went out to... you could've guessed... the Woolshed. It was actually really fun though. I did find a maggot/caterpiller in my meal.... so got another free one... Gross as it was, at least it wasn't half a maggot.
We did tequila shots and stayed out dancing late. Me and Hannah gave mike a hawaian shirt which we made him wear.
This morning we decided to rent a car for three days to drive up to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas. It'll be a nice road trip and beachy stuff before we leave. It's so soon until i'm home, it's unreal. Last minute present buying today i suppose.
