Well it was time for Rach and I to leave Santiago for a few days. Off we skipped to the coast! This doesn´t mean we were throwing on the bikinis though, it was too chilly. Anyways, the journey started off great....until I left my camera on the bus. Haha, it was a goose chase trying to get back to the bus station. To make a story short we ended up on a bus overfilled by 20 people in the mountains! Not to surprising that it was too late by the time we arrived at the bus station. Oh well, let little things not bring you down! Thats right, Rach and I invested in an oldschool film camera. You know, the kind that are extraordinary loud when winding after the film is done. Oh yeah...trend baby trend.

Valparaiso is characterized by colorful houses all up and across the mountains. The tourist intrigue is the many elevator carts along the hills that cart people to their residences. How cool is that? Valparaiso is an old port city, that also houses the Chilean Armada (navy). It is old and rustic, but definitely dirty. A little tour of the bay is good for photos of the mountains and houses. But i´d recommend taking a bus for 20 minutes to Vina Del Mar. Which is what we did.

Vina as it is called is a posh town for the ritzy. Delicious gourmet restaurants with beautiful ocean views make this city a treasure to visit. Parks and museums also give the everyday tourist something to amuse themselves with. Its a good day trip, but don´t stay here unless you´re rich. All in all Valparaiso was a short getaway but nice. We returned to Santiago for one more night. Rach and I started a card game and before we knew it...we had turned into a group of 10. It got pretty rowdy during a game of kings, but definitely a very memorable night. Good times like that are impossible to forget.
