The town of Copan Ruinas is small , very pretty and colonial.

The ruins aren't as big and impressive as Palenque or Tikal but it has the best preserved stone carvings and was still very interesting.

could you recommend a good tour to visit the mayan ruins. interested in Copan, Palenque, Tikal. plan on leaving in August. Unfortunately we dont speak spanish otherwise we would try to do it on our own.

I'm sorry I can't recommend a tour company as I did it alone. All of the places you mention are well geared up for tourism and you should have no problems finding someone who speaks English who can arrange transport etc.
