my son kurt and i spent my first day of my adventure holiday travelling to albany via the wineries around mt barker. great to visit the popular goundry and mad fish wineries.

the weather was a shocker - cold n wet. after a few pints of becks tho' at the local in albany it didn't really matter. our motel was opposite the dog rock - see photo.

albany sights

next day we toured around the rocky coastline from albany to denmark n found some beautiful deserted beaches that would have been great to spend a day swimming n snorkelling - salmon holes, mutton bird island & shelleys. also some spectacular spots like the gap and the natural bridge.

next day we snorkelled at the green pools and elephant rock at denmark; a lovely protected rocky series of ponds in crystal-clear water before returning to perth and kurt's beloved staffy ripper.
