Winding down in the land of the rising sun...
From Winding down in the land of the rising sun... in Kyoto, Japan on Jul 01 '01
Well it`s Tuesday July 3, and we`re in Tokyo for the second time this year. Kind of feels weird to be coming back to the Tobu Hotel in Shibuya, kind of familiar, and yet Tokyo is still so wild and vast. Tomorrow, the fourth of July, will be our last full day in Tokyo and the last Non Travel day of the trip. Travel days are always different than non travel days, because they are broken up by travel. Hence the name. Anyway, tomorrow we`ll be raiding all the Tower records, HMV and Virgin Megastores of Tokyo trying to stay on budget of course but as we haven`t really been buying crazy amounts of souvenirs and as there are so many interesting Japanese only releases that I can only get on this day, I`ll be lucky to get away for under $100 US. When in Rome, they say. But we`re not in Rome we`re in Japan...Hope I havent confused anyone. I just want to say thanks to all the people who have told us that they have read every trip journal entry over these last sixmonths, and at the risk of sounding like Charles Kuralt, I want to say it`s been a unique pleasure to be able to travel and meet so many nice people and see so many frankly strange sights. And who knew that so many of our friends would be able to correspond with us so freely and regularly. There will be a few more entries here, we still have a lot to cover, and I havent told you all about the flight home to San Francisco because it hasnt happened yet. But I just wanted to give y`all a shout out in advance. Thanks for coming with us.
