Overnight train was brilliant- better than French trains anyway! They offer you food and drinks, set up a little table for you and then when you want to sleep they make up the beds! We arrived in Chiang Mai at about half 9, and a driver picked us up from the train station and took us to the trekking office. We met our guide, Eddy and he explained what we were doing and what we needed to bring. We were then driven to our guesthouse, where we had breakfast did some washing and then decided to wander around the city. It's nice because you can walk everywhere, no need for taxis or tuk-tuks. We went to visit the main Wat in Chiang Mai and then walked to the river, where we had a very nice lunch. Then we decided it was time for our first thai massage so we went to a little local place for an hour- some of it was a bit painful! We had dinner in a little restaurant called Khao sawy- where we had Khao sawy- a traditional nothern dish with chicken and flat egg noodles in a sort of curry sauce. Then we went to the night bazaar which was good fun and walked around for a few hours before heading for bed. We are getting picked up for trekking at 9-should be fun!
