I've been busy training with Janice and getting to know my staff. First on the horizon is a HUGE retirement party for one of the former employees from the kitchen. Victorine worked in the AOC kitchen for about 18 years.
One of the things that Wycliffe (the mission organization I am with) is famous for - world wide - is their daily coffee break at 10 AM. It is like a religious function -- everybody stops what they are doing and drinks some coffee and chats with their co-workers for about 30 minutes.

Today - we are hosting the coffee break for all of SIL (the group of Wycliffe personnel working here in Yaoude). We aren't really sure exactly how many people are going to show - but, need to guess fairly accurately as there isn't really enough refrigeration to keep food much more than a day or two if it isn't used for an event such as this.
It was a great opportunity to work side by side with Hilda and Rebecca in the kitchen. For them to see my working style and for me to see their skills. I can already tell that they are both really talented, though they aren't used to the tiny attention to detail that I equate with a formal catering event. Room to grow!

We ended up having about 80 people come. All of the food was wiped out - so no worries about storage there!!!
It's going to take me a while to get used to working in a kitchen wearing a dress!!!! I'm so used to chef's pants.
