Finca Tatin

Nice boat ride down the Rio Dulce.  Most of it is in a canyon and the scenery is great.  Finca Tatin is on a tributary river and not many boats go past so it's pretty secluded and ideal for just chilling out.  Which is what I did.

Spent the first day just reading books in a hammock and going for short walks in the jungle.  The next day I hired a canoe and went paddling to El Golfete and the Bio-reserve.  Really nice and I can't recommend it enough!  Spent the day just paddling around tiny little jungle rivers and exploring.  Got a bit lost but nothing too bad.  Hard work after a few weeks of not really doing much.

Things were pretty quiet in the Finca.  Not many people staying there when I first arrived but it picked up after 2 days.  Really nice food, enough to do if you didn't want to swing in a hammock, and hammocks to swing in if you were too lazy to do anything else.

Some volunteers from a nearby NGO came over for dinner 1 day (they'd had enough of beans, rice and tortillas) and they were really nice.  Had a couple of good nights there at the end of my stay.

Had to hitch a lift from a boat to get to Rio Dulce to catch a bus as the boat we'd arranged to collect us didn't appear.  Took us about 1 hour to get a boat, don't think I'm cut out for hitching!
