Had a horrible nights sleep in Sydney due to the light being on for ever and the girl in the bunk under me was sick. She was tossing, turning, coughing, and snoring all night.

I woke up before my alarm was set to go off at 4:45am after what little sleep I had and got ready. I went to the train station just up the road. It was $12 for a one way ticket to the domestic airport. Somehow on the way my ticket fell out of my pocket. The lady that I talked to at the ticket booth only charged me another  $4.50 instead of another $12. Still ended up being the most expensive train ticket I have ever bought in Sydney! I was trying to be so buget-conscious too!

I have had a wonderful first impression of Fiji.

Flew into Brisbane and had to take the train over to the International Airport. Then it was on to Nadi, Fiji. This flight seemed alot longer than the 3 1/2 hrs that it was. I had slept from Sydney to Brisbane but I guess excitment and nerves were getting to me now.

Got to Nadi and through the airport. It was the easiest airport to get through! Then I met the tour company representative and he sent me on my way to the hostel.

The Nomads Skylodge Hostel was a nice place and I thought that I was going to have my 6 bed dorm to myself but later on in the night 2 girls from California showed up. So it was still nice and uncrowded. And once I got the aircon working it was cool too! It had been unplugged and the outlet was hidden in the curtains above the window. The wires looked a bit dodgy so I was a bit nervous about plugging it back in, waiting for the shock. But I was alright. The things we do for A/C!

I went to the pool to try and cool down. It was so muggy that I was just dripping and uncomfortable. The pool was really nice looking but the water was a bit warm. In the pool I met 2 Canadian Michelles that were going on the same tour as me. Starting tomorrow. They were on the Doubles package, whereas I was on the dorm package so we would be together most of the time with a few days different here and there. I was pretty excited since I was a bit worried about travelling on my own.

We had dinner in the restaurant at Skylodge since the Michelles had been told it was quite dangerous to go out after dark in Nadi. I thought the food was quite expensive. Dinner cost me about $32 all total. So that was my splurge. I had a huge tray of lamb curry and rice and all the little sides that go along with curries, a Blue Lagoon cocktail and some banana fritters. The bananas tasted sooo good! The best I have tasted in years!

I have had a wonderful first impression of Fiji. The hills around Nadi are so beautiful. Have to start taking pictures tomorrow! I keep forgetting that I actually have a camera now. Tom let me borrow his for the trip. Can't wait for the tour to start tomorrow too! Now that I know some people that are also going.
