Our first Chilean city and it was a wonderful start! We took it easy and sort of planned what our next stops would be north of Punta Arenas. Getting used to the currency and the prices of things takes a while, so this made for good practice. Punta Arenas is usually just a stop over city, either on your way north to Torres del Paine or south to Ushuaia. Chile is much more expensive compared to other South American countries. However, with a few changes to our way of life, we are able to stay within our budget. We also used our time here to take advantage of the Zona Franca (Duty Free zone) to get last minute things for our camping up in Paine. Not much to do....but a pleasant place to hang out!
