To get to Panglao Island from Cebu, we took the OceanJet ferry which took about 1.5 hours (air con and even a movie were included!)  We arrived and were ambushed by the taxi drivers trying to take us to Alona Beach, we settled on a tricycle which was WAY MORE FUN!  We stumbled upon a cheap room at Bohol Divers Resort and made that our camp for 3 nights.  We were happy to finally be out of the big city and back to island living...able to really enjoy the popular beer of choice, San Miguel :)  Our first day, we just walked up and down the beach checking out the area, scoping out dive shops, and enjoying the swimming pool!  We came across Blue Planet Divers, a newer German-owned dive shop, who were planning a trip out to Balicasag Island for two dives the next day...."sign us up!"  The diving was amazing, absolutely beautiful, probably the best we have seen.  The most brilliantly colored corals and reef fish (species we have never encountered before), pelagic jackfish and mackeral actively hunting, nudibranchs galore, the biggest manta shrimp we have ever seen, a curious remora/suckerfish that followed us for one of the dives, and some scary looking crocodile needlefish!  Not to mention all the jellies that had to leave a lasting impression on all our exposed skin...4 days later and we are still itching!  After our day out on the boat, we enjoyed the nightlife of Alona Beach.  There was a local band playing live music, and we got to pick out what local delicacies we wanted grilled on a stick...chicken feet, intestines, wings, legs, fish, pork, etc.  MMM!  All new experiences, but a bit pricier since the tourists seem to flock to this diving destination of Alona Beach, so 3 days later we decided to pack up and move on.  On our tricycle ride back to the ferry, we detoured through Loboc where we were able to marvel at the cute Filipino Tarsier (one of the smallest primates in existence), and we held a baby monkey (yay!)  Steph was happy to love on some furry friends before heading out!
