Check new comments on Atlantic Crossing - 8-9 foot seas! Last DAY at SEA!

We are spending the next five days crossing the Atlantic.  Our days are filled with working out in the gym looking out into the ocean ahead.  It is a magnificent time to relax and enjoy ourselves.

Our first day at sea, we didn't get up until almost 11 AM!!! Lazy!! Granddaddy went to the front of the ship and spent several hours reading his book while Gram took a dance class (Merengue), read my book on our balcony and beat Granddaddy in a game of Acey-Ducey!!  Of course, he helped me.

Gram's sinus infection is better and we went to the ship's hospital for a leg dressing from a beautiful blonde nurse - so Granddaddy will accompany me each day for support.... I think he is in love!

Weather perfect!  Formal night onboard tonight at dinner and a party with the Captain so we must leave to get dressed.

We have scheduled a Segway tour in St. Maarten, should be fun!

Maya says: Have a lot of fun! And don't forget to bring a present back:) Is the ocean very deep or very shallow? Have you seen any fish? or mermaids? or sharks that jump up out of the water and then jump back down? Have you seen Ariel? Have fun...goodbye! Aric Says: Hey, great talking with you today...what I could hear anyway. I'm green with envy for all the relaxing you're getting in. Maya got a concussion today...so we had a nice day at the hospital:) See you soon!

December 16th - Midway crossing the Atlantic. We are now halfway through our Atlantic crossing and the weather is perfect! The waves about 6 ft. and winds 20 knots. We all occasionally gather around the map (several around) to look where we are and the Captain comes on the PA system everyday at noon to give our position. It is amazing to think we are in the very middle of the Atlantic Ocean! 1300 miles of water (at least) in every direction and we're on a relatively tiny ship in comparison. God's creation is so evident here and we feel so protected in His hands. I am still visiting the ship's hospital each day for dressing change but my leg appears to be getting better. We have met several more interesting people including a man named Juan from Madrid who lost his wife about 6 years ago. They had no children and he has crossed the Atlantic 14 times. He is lovely, speaks beautiful English, and meets us each night in the Martini Bar with our bartender friends Willie and Alexandra (from Kosovo). We enjoy each evening together and several other friends join us. It will be true separation anxiety when we leave next Saturday. It is truly fun to dress up each night and listen to the string band in the bar play. The past two days I have fallen asleep on the balcony while reading and listening to the wonderful ocean in the warm air. I am working on my tan but it is coming slowly so don't expect much. I took Salsa lessons yesterday so we'll see if I remember them. Granddaddy didn't want to come so another wife and I took them together, still fun! Happy birthday today, Amanda!

OUR LAST DAY AT SEA! It is hard to believe that this is our last day at sea. We have not seen land since last Thursday night and 380 miles from Barbados now. I am so relaxed that my blood sugar has been amazing. Here are my answers for Maya; Is the ocean very deep or very shallow? The ocean has been 15,000 ft deep most days but yesterday it was only 10,000 feet BUT today it is 18,000 ft deep - WOW! It is starting to get really blue so the water must be really warm! We haven't even seen another ship!! But we know there are plenty of them out there. Have you seen any fish? only one whale in Gibraltar but more fish when we were on land - big, medium and small in Greece/ or mermaids? We've been looking for mermaids, I think they sleep in the day time. or sharks that jump up out of the water and then jump back down? Not a single shark - can you believe that? Have you seen Ariel? Granddaddy has been looking for Ariel but the closest he came was the Norweigan nurse in the ship's hospital. She has blonde hair and blue eyes just like you! We continue to cherish each day and enjoy our recovery from the first 3 weeks. WE LOVE YOU ALL! I cherish each day in the sun.
