In the morning we took a boat up the Li river enjoying the spectacular craggy limestone peaks.

In the afternoon we took a trip round the market. Lots of live things in cages and tanks: chickens, rabbits, frogs, snails, fish - even dog. We then went out of town a short way for a cookery class. Everyone had great fun chopping and wokking. As the evening fell we sat on the patio, cicadas chirruping, enjoying the view of the mountains and congratulating ourselves on what we'd made.

Major building works going on in the room above mine late last night eventually stopped when I complained and threatened to change rooms.
