Early flight out of Seattle to San Fran. Weather in San Fran absolutely perfect. I noticed a lot of change since I was last here. I must have been here 15 times. When I was first in San Fran around 10 years ago Market and anything South of Market (SoMa) was at best edgy and at worst a no go zone. Now its been poncified and 'Gapbucks-ed'. I am sure Naomi Klein would dislike it but if it means one less hapless individual doesn't get mugged you got have to think it might be an improvement.

I don't know why but when I come here all I can think about is earthquakes and what would I do if  the BIg One happened. So being on the 15th floor of my hotel does not assist such paranoia.

Later afternoon I took a stroll down to the Marina area and along to Crissy Field in the Golden Gate National Rec Area. En route was treated to a classic 'now you see it now you don't' with the Golden Gate bridge as a mist rolled in and quickly 100% obscured the whole bridge. Really very freaky. And one of the worlds most beautiful walks.

Drifted in to Safeway on Beach which must be a contender for best supermarket in the world for both location and goods. Then wandered back through Fort Mason, Fishermans Wharf (yuch) and then up onto Columbus and then down Grant via Chinatown (looking and feeling a bit tired) back to the hotel. Corking walk.
