El Bolson: It´s Like Cosmic Maaaaaan
From South And Central America in 5ish months in El Bolson, Argentina on Feb 04 '07
Everyone knows that EL Bolson is the cross roads for a highway of psychedelic energy and cosmic vibrations. It´s like spiritual maaaan. How they know this, I am not quite sure. Whatever it is, I don´t know but I love this place.
The town is nothing at all special. It looks like something you would expect in a Mormon community in Utah. There are no Mormons here though, only arty students and spaced out hippies. Which reminds me , I had a chocolate cake earlier which is starting to make me feel at one with nature and the universe...

The town is surrounded by mountains and forests. It has very few tourists and tourism is certainly not the focus of the town. The essence of this place is art, music and it symbolises everything and anything that goes against conservatism. I have met the supposed reincarnation of Bob Marley and gypsies abound. Living in the Borough prepared me for these types of encounters.
I am staying in a lofty hostel in the woods which is next to a rocky mountain river . It is so peaceful and tranquil and it has a garden with hammocks where you can chill out next to the pool. It is again, a log cabin but the people are really friendly and I have met a lot of like minded individuals. It´s like I have crossed destiny´s path man.
I went horse riding yesterday and the guide ( he was a self proclaimed gaucho but had studied law at university in Buenos Aires and was of Italian descent) took me through the forests to a waterfall and a rock formation that looked like a person´s head. It is in fact called ´la cabezza del Indio´ ( the Indian´s head). The views were spectacular and horse riding is my newest passion. I have just been to the local artisan fair where tied dye and weird naturalist stuff is sold. I have bought a poncho style scarf which I think is beautiful but I know that when I get back to England, consumerism will seep back into my veins and I will look at it with scorn because it wasn´t made by child slaves in India and sold in a leading highstreet shop.
Right, I am off to light some incense. I will be going to San Martin De Los Andes tomorrow and if any of you want to sponsor me, please do so at www.justgiving.com/ciccia
