We drove from Cap Coz to Chartres. We stayed in a beautiful hotel and the next day went to see the famous Cathedral. There was a service going on so we did not want to disturb the worshippers. The stained glass in the cathedral is mind-boggling. Each window tells a story from the Bible. We sat for about a half hour and took in the spiritual atmosphere.

On Sunday afternoon, we made it to our apartment in Paris. It is fabulous and we are right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. We feel safe because we have two security doors that we go through before we come to our apartment. The apartment is just one room but it has everything we could want: Large bathroom, stovetop, microwave, washer and dryer, and a comfortable bed. We can see the top of St. Paul Cathedral from our balcony. We are staying in the Marais district which is, according the the guidebooks, "hip". On Sunday, everything else in Paris is closed, except for the stores and restaurants in the Marais. It was so busy it was a little intimidating so we shopped for food for the apartment.

We have spent the last few days exploring the area around the apartment.  There is a Monoprix down the street which is like a Target with food.  Today we walked to the Ile St. Louis which is a little island in the middle of the Seine.  We had lunch at a small restaurant which served us 3 courses for 13 euros. It was really good!  Green salad with salmon, with toast points.  Crepe with chicken, cheese, creme, and tomatoes, and a apple tarte for dessert.  We also discovered a really interesting chocolate shop with flavors like grapefruit and praline with dark chocolate, dark ganache with cardamom, and dark chocolate with tequila and lemon.  Really interesting tastes.

Tomorrow we hit the Paris sales.  France only has two sales per year and we are lucky (or unlucky depending on your point of view) to be here at that time.  So wish me luck!  More fun to follow!
