Waterford
From Europe 2007 in Waterford, Ireland on Jun 12 '07
Waterford was a quaint town. it had rained most of the journey but on our arrival the weather cleared. Ian & Kevin had a rest and Faye and i went fro a walk to get our bearings and some fresh air. Our accomodation was very different to what we had stayed in previosly and our rooms were up several flights of stairs so we only took what we needed out of our luggage. We had a perfect evening for dinner at the castle and the drive there in the taxi showed us some very nice homes on larger blocks of land. We have all been amazed at the amount of new housing that is currently being built, acres of new homes all the same, i think they are semi detached like our townhouses in New Zealand. I understand there are tax incentives attached to the new homes and a lot of immigrants are moving to Ireland as well as English. We left Waterford on a very wet day stopping at the famous waterford factory on the way out of town. see review on factory. We all purchased a piece as a keepsake and memory of the trip. We purchased a small mantel clock, well I chose a very small one but Ian couldn't read it so we sized up. We had lunch in the cafe at the factory and then it was back on the road on our way to Killarney. I am the navigator and to date Ian has been the driver.
