We woke up around 10 in the morning to bright blue skies and a thick warm air. After a breakfast of meal bars and applesauce, Allison I headed down to the beach. Our first priority of the day was not tanning as one might expect, but finding Allison a wide brimmed hat for her potentially lobsteresque face. We walked up the beach and soon found ourselves in a small souvenier shop selling, among other things, hats. After testing a few we decided to try our luck further up the beach. As we stepped out of the shop I spotted something that nearly rendered me speechless- it was a bobsled from Cool Runnings. THE bobsled from Cool Runnings! How did we possibly miss this cultural relic? I grabbed Allison's arm prompting her to turn around. It wasn't long before she let out a squeal of excitement and we both ran over and into the old bobsled. We found it amazing that this bobsled which must surely be considered a national treasure was left unattended and thus free to climb on. We had our picture taken so that will never forget this wonderful surreal experience.

Allison and I reluctantly pulled ourselves away from the bobsled and continued our wide-brimmed hat search. We soon found a table full of hats... and jewelry and towels and "tobacco" pipes. Allison chose a straw hat with the widest brim I had ever seen from a humongous hat stack. I found some cute bracelets for my sisters, and myself. Satisfied with our purchases, we dumped them off in our room and headed for the beach. We threw our towels on the provided chairs, and settled down with our ipods and celeb gossip magazines. Now that is a vacation!

As we were relaxing we began to get into some more people watching. Since the beach was only for hotel guests, we had seen most of the fellow beach bums around already as we walked through the complex. We soon discovered our faves: a middle-aged blonde whose lack of posessing any reflective surface was clearly evident in her poor decision to wear a way-too-skimpy-for-her black thong string bikini. Our other source of live entertainment was a family of about 6 southerners who had chosen to lay out in the row of seats behind us. As soon as we heard thm, both Allison and I discretly removed our earbuds to listen. They were cute, sweet thick-accented Georgians and their dialogue, though I can no longer recall specifics, was downright amusing. When a tour operator approached and offered to take them out snorkeling the next day, we quickly grabbed the opportunity to see more of these folks and asked if we could tag along. Their southern friendliness couldn't turn us down. We were scheduled to meet them and our tour guide at 10 the following morning.

All that eavesdropping and people watching was making us hungry. We headed north on the beach and found Chances, a simple pizza and booze kinda place. And it happened to be the same place the bobsled was in front of. We had been so thrilled we hadn't even noticed. Anyway, we ordered a pizza and diet pepsis which arrived in glass bottles. Adoreable! After lunch, Allison and headed back to our room, put our leftovers in the fridge went back to the beach for a short post-lunch lay out. After an hour we went back to our room and got ready for dinner at Rick's Cafe.
