Came up to magnetic Island from Airlie beach... prettyu much to take a break from the chaos of the past 2 weeks and to get away from the drink. Came up on the bus with Simone from Parma (met on fraser island). He stayed going on to Cairns. Anyway, got chatting with this scotsman from Sterling named Wayne Davis. I think he had a pretty tough upbringing in scotland. He was character for sure.
Tells me about this welsh friend of his who slept with fat girls, about how his whole family have moved to spain, about his sisters drug addiction, about how his arms were all burned from picking mangoes over here in Oz - and this was all before we got off the ferry for magnetic island ... no end to the chaos in his life.

Went for a walk after dinner and by the maddest of coincedences I bumped into Wil the dutch girl who was on my boat on the whitsunday islands! She was there feeding wallibies carrots. She gave mne her Oz number to call her for dinner the next night.
Later that evening Wayne and I went for a few beers in the super quiet bar in magnums hostel on the island. We got talking to this hen party that were on the island for the night. They were a older bunch - around early 30s. The scotsman wanted to get off with the hen. He was mad after her and wasn't giving up easily. They fecked off about 12 - I think he scared them off really :-)

After that we got chatting to some of the locals. Two aboriginal women and two kiwis that lives on the island. We all headed down to the beach with a case of beer until about 3am. So much for a quiet night! The scotsman got into a big argument with one of the aboriginal girls... what a mad tool considering they were the ones giving us the free beer. Got home about 3am and the boy wayne was hammered and turned on all lights in the dorm and started singing and started tickling the feet of one of the koreans that was sleeping! He then opened the patio door and fell asleep outside the door... all very natural if your from sterling in scotland it appears :-).

Went for a walk along the beach the next day. It was quite hot an 70% humidity. I contemplated a walk up the mountains to this Fort place but it was just too hot! I walked along the beach and nearly passed out so went under the trees and fell asleep for about an hour and a half... best sleep of my life.
Called Wil but alas there was no answer. Instead wentfor food with scotsman wayne and a few others that were in the hostel. Cutting a long story short we played drinking games down at the beach with these girls from england and one form dresden in germany. One of the english girls was from birmingham (Jazz was her name). She was the coolest and best fun of the lot. She was an indian seikh. Was good fun until this Ozzie guy came up to us and wanted to start a fight with the scotsman. How in the hell does trouble follow that man around I don't know. The pics I have of him are funny and you'll see why trouble follows him... he's a good guy though.

Really appresiated this chilled out island. Good to have a relatively "easy" couple of days.
Bed at 4 and up again at 9 to catch the ferry off magnetic island for mission beach for the white water rafting and the sky dive.
