I arrived at Hong Kong airport at about 5:30 PM. It was overcast but with a pink sunset coming through. I caught a bus into town from the airport which is on an island. The airport was huge and had plenty of room to build more. It was like a city on its own. The thing you notice about Hong Kong are the many very tall buildings - and the smog - which makes your throat hurt and your eyes sting - but only a little. I did some computer work and put together a presentation on my first morning then went shopping for a digital camera. I bought an Olympus 6 mega-pixel which is slimline and I got a free memory card, an electric toothbrush and a New Balance cap with it! My foot still hurts and it was hard work walking to the Times Square shopping centre to get the camera. The weather has been pretty dismal so far but it is very warm...maybe 25-28 degrees Celsius. Monday 25th I had only two meetings but miles apart so spent a bit on taxi fares. A beautiful day - very warm but not too hot. Perfect. The Hong Kong people are really nice - I had forgotten how nice they are. Friendly, helpful. It is a busy city but for some reason the people here haven't lost their humanity. I have included a photo of the world 6th tallest building - IFC2. On my last day it was another beautiful day but of course - smoggy. Went up to the 55th floor of the IFC2 tower but they wouldn't let me take photos. An truly impressive building. Reminds me of the World Trade Center towers. Had a postive meeting this morning. My Singapore airlines flight has been delayed so I have delayed checking out of the hotel but going to be a bit of waiting around at the airport. Not a major problem though. Next stop Singapore. A big meeting tomorrow.......and now I am writing about the next day. That meeting went well. The flight to Singapore was delayed 3 hours but it wasn't too bad. Singapore airlines gave me a meal voucher for approx NZD 50 - so got into some serious noodles and Kirin Ichi-Ban. Took a whole bunch of photos on the way out to the airport. Major finding of this visit: I like Hong Kong people. Enjoyed their company. There should be more like them.
