Island Hopping

Days 1 and 2 Resting and sunbathing by the pool.  Airlie is a lively resort with a manmade lagoon so that nic doesn't have to swim with box jelly fish although it isn't the right time of year so we'd have been fine.

Day 3 We caught the ferry to Long Island.  We hadn't intended on visiting this one but we arrived at the ferry terminal a bit late on in the day and there wasn't much choice really.  However we had a lovely day mainly based at the resort.  Beautiful north facing beach and it was low tide so we walked out across the sand and saw bits and pieces of marine wildlife - mainly snails actually.  Played minigolf which is always a favourite with us and the highlight of the day was feeding the lorikeets (Parrots).  We were given a mixture of apple and honey and they literally just flew down out of the trees and started to lick it of our hands.  Lick is the correct verb here not peck.  It was really cute.  Ferry ride home was a tad chilly but we are very much relaxing into life in OZ.

Day 4 We went on a boat called Mantaray.  set off reasonalbly early this morning 38 of us on the boat to visit whitehaven beach and then snorkel just of the NE point of hook island.  The Whitesunday's are stunningly beautiful and it was amazing to be swimming in totally clear water this morning and then snorkelling over coral reefs this afternoon.  Boat wasn't all that bit crowded for our liking and not the best hospitality but nature  cannot fault!  I haven't actually snorkalled before and it was amazing to see all these fish that I've only ever seen in finding nemo before.  Off north again tommorrow so more updates to follow.
