Back in Marrakech
From Pete & Vic´s Big Trip in Marrakech, Morocco on Feb 23 '06
After much showering we had returned ourselves to a reasonable state of hygine and felt able to mix with the public once more so we went back to Djemma El-Fna for one final meal with our fellow trekkers.
The following morning we were quite glad to check out of the chaotic hotel the travel company had booked for us and moved into a beautiful riad we had booked before the trek. Unlike the hotel the riad was peaceful and quiet, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the breakfast actually arrived. Our room opened into the beautifully decorated coartyard which was full of intricately carved plasterwork and colourful tiling. It was just a shame our room was full of damp washing we had dragged over from the hotel.
Back again
Refreshed and revitalized, we wandered into the souks with a sudden urge to buy something Moroccan as a souvenir of our stay. However, in Morocco the price of an item depends entirely on the seller's evaluation of the buyer rather than it's actual worth. From the prices that we were offered it seems that we were assessed as being either very rich or very stupid. We returned empty handed but at least we had had a lot of fun haggling with the stall holders.
The following morning we checked out early after a great breakfst of Moroccan pankakes and honey and armed with a bag of dried fruit and nuts for the journey, we walked back to the train staion to head to our Final destination -Â Casablanca.
