I always thought I'd have some big, grand adventure in the Grand Canyon - rafting down the Colorado River, riding down the switchback trails on a horse or donkey (like they did on the "Brady Bunch"), or hiking down to the bottom with an overloaded backpack. Since I visited this famous natural wonder with an Arizona native, who's seen it a million times, I had to settle for getting out of the car, saying "wow" a hundred times, getting my picture taken while I was contemplating the magestic scenery, and walking along the top for a few minutes. (All the while he was saying, "Can we go now?")

And you know what, just seeing the Grand Canyon is an adventure in itself, even if you don't have time to explore the trails.

Completely takes your breath away!

We drove into the South Rim entrance. Park fees are expensive, $20 per car for a week pass, but worth it. If you are going to be visiting more than one National Park, (Yellowstone, Yosemite etc.) you should buy the National Park Pass for $50 - it's good for one year.

Since we visited in March, the temperature was a little cool - I could even see snow in the Canyon.

After we left the Grand Canyon, we drove to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument (100 miles away). William was very impressed with the history of the area, I just thought it looked really cool - you could still see the lava flows, how they have cooled and changed the landscape forever. The park had a very nice accessible path through all different types of terrain and wasn't very crowded at all.
