Situated in the centre of Texas, San Antonio is a really nice (and big) city built on oil dollars. We stayed in cabins at the Alamo KOA camping ground and for our evening there, we dined at 'Dicks' restaurant on the city's River Walk (an artificial river flows through the centre of San Antonio and has restaurants and bars lining its banks). Dick's is a unique restaurant, with an awesome party atmosphere - which certainly got the night off to a cracker start! From there we (I especially) had a big night at Rita's bar just down the way.

The following day we visited the famous Alamo, aka 'Shrine of Texas Liberty', before heading off to Dallas (via Austin - capital of Texas).
