Hooray For Holyrood!

I have never stayed in a same sex dorm before, normally it was all in and not a problem. The hostel we picked in Edinburgh however had a strict policy. Strange, but what can you do?

We spent the majority of our time in or near the Royal Mile, the historical heart of Edinburgh. Visits to the Castle, the National Gallery, Camera Obscura (with great views over the chimneys of the city) and Holyrood Palace were all on the, to do, list. I also had a quick look at the Scotch Whisky Heritage centre where free tastings were all the go. I have a definite taste for scotch, one that could haunt me one day!

Last time I was here, the sun came up, skirted along the horizon for a few hours and buggered off again!

I even managed to see some sunshine. Last time I was here, the sun came up, skirted along the horizon for a few hours and buggered off again!

In one corner of the city I stumbled upon an Aussie pub. Smashing my way through the door I had hoped to see some footy, but alas it was not to be. The only Aussie thing to be found in the place, were flags, drunken backpackers and a couple of cans of VB.
